         <title>John E. &quot;Jack&quot;  Blair Sr., 67</title>
         <description><![CDATA[John E. &ldquo;Jack&rdquo;  Blair Sr., 67, of Adams Street, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010,  at the Glens Falls Hospital.<br />
  Born on June 18,  1943, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Seward and Eva (Rock) Blair.<br />
  Jack graduated from  Whitehall High School, class of 1961. He served four years in the U.S. Air  Force. He retired after 30-plus years of service from International Paper Co.  in Ticonderoga. He was also a member of the Faith Chapel in Whitehall.<br />
  He enjoyed the Giants,  New York Yankees, loved fishing , crossword puzzles, McDonald&rsquo;s coffee in the  morning, his dog &ldquo;Petie&rdquo; and especially his grandkids. Jack also enjoyed &ldquo;ELVIS.&rdquo;<br />
  He is predeceased  by his parents and two brothers.<br />
  He is survived by  his wife of 32 years, Cheryl (Donaldson) Blair of Whitehall; one daughter,  Rosemary Love and her husband, Bob; three sons, John Edward Blair II and his  wife, Kim Blair, Dwane Hurlburt and his wife, Kari, and Lyle Hurlburt; his grandchildren,  Trevor Hurlburt, Gabriel Hurlburt, Tyler Hurlburt, Jayden Hurlburt, Trey  Kimball, Jacob Kimball, Lydia Hurlburt, Brycen Hurlburt, Brooke Love, Ryan  Love, Alexa Love, Brittney Love, Elizabeth Love, Shakiah McCoy, Jordyn McCoy,  Michaela McCoy, Izsac Blair and Brandan Layton ; one sister, Rose Fields and  her husband, Sylva; his beloved mother-in-law, Marion Donaldson; one cousin,  Helen Beebe; and three nieces.<br />
  Calling hours were  held Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St.,  Whitehall. A time of fellowship and refreshments followed the calling hours at  the Faith Chapel in Whitehall.<br />
  A memorial service  will be conducted at a later date.<br />

         <title>David  D. Tracy, 96</title>
         <description><![CDATA[David  D. Tracy, 96, of Pike Brook Road, passed away unexpectedly at his home on  Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010.<br />
  &nbsp;Born  on May 11, 1914, in Clemons, he was the son of the late Fred W. Tracy and  Hattie (Chaplan) Tracy.<br />
  &nbsp;He  was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theatre during World  War II. He received the Conspicuous Service Metal and the Purple Heart.<br />
  &nbsp;His  favorite pastimes were visiting his family and favorite restaurant, hunting,  gardening, playing with the tractor and going to Florida.<br />
  &nbsp;In  his early years, he was employed in the Conservation Department for the state  of New York. Later he worked for the town of Clemons Highway Department.<br />
  &nbsp;He  was a member of the Republican Party, American Legion and BVA.<br />
  &nbsp;Besides  his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, June, who passed away on Oct. 2,  2003; his brothers, John F. Tracy, Fred A. Tracy, James Tracy , Gerald Tracy  and Leslie Tracy; and his sisters, Virginia and Helen.<br />
  &nbsp;Survivors  include his brother, Clifton and his wife, Eleanor, of Eagle Bridge; his sisters,  Ethelyn of Perkinsville, Vt., Harriet and her husband, Jack, of Richmond, Ky., and  Anna and her friend from Vermont; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and  nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.<br />
  &nbsp;Calling  hours and services were held Monday at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46  Williams St., Whitehall. Services were conducted by American Legion Post  83 and the Rev. Roberta Proper.<br />
  &nbsp;Interment  , with full military honors, followed at the Pike Brook Cemetery in Clemons conducted  by the American Legion Post 83.<br />
  &nbsp;In  lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in David’s name to the  Skenesborough EMT, P. O. Box 333, Whitehall, N.Y. 12887.<br />

         <title>Sherri L. Field, 53</title>
         <description><![CDATA[Sherri L. Field, 53, passed away unexpectedly at her home on July 30, 2010.<br>
She was born on April 10, 1957, in Whitehall, the daughter of the late Roland E. Gordon and Lucille V. (Rodd) Gordon of Whitehall.<br>
Sherri was a graduate of Whitehall High School, class of 1976.<br>
She and her husband, Leonard A. Field, were united in marriage on Jan. 17, 1976.<br>
Sherri was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church of Whitehall.<br>
She was employed by Family Dollar in Whitehall for 11 years.  She opened her own business, Patriot Dollar, at 96 Broadway in Whitehall in 2002 and continued to operate the business at the time of her death.  She also started Honey’s Bait Shop at her residence in 1978, then moving the business with her husband to two different locations, and currently they operate the business together at 96 Broadway in Whitehall.<br>
Sherri enjoyed vacationing in Maine with her mother for many years, fishing, watching sunsets with her mother on South Bay in Whitehall, and especially enjoyed spending time with her husband, son and family.<br>
She is predeceased by her father, Roland E. Gordon.<br>
Survivors include her husband, Leonard A. Field of Whitehall; her son, Quintin Field and his wife, Crystina, of Aurora, Colo.; her mother, Lucille V. Gordon of Whitehall; her three brothers, Roland L. Gordon and Henry D. Gordon of Whitehall and Wayne E. Gordon and his wife, Maria, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.<br>
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 6, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Skene Street, Whitehall, with the Rev. Michael Flannery, pastor, officiating.<br>
Family and friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. on Friday until the time of the services.<br>
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her memory to the 
Glens Falls Hospital Foundation, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, N.Y. 12801, or visit  www.glensfallshospital.org/ to assist patients with medical expenses.<br>

         <title>Nancy M. Polk, 88</title>
         <description><![CDATA[Nancy Mary Polk passed away Friday July 23, 2010, at the age of 88. <br>
She was born in Whitehall, on April 17, 1922, to Antonio and Maria Mormino. Nancy graduated from Whitehall High School and was in college at Alfred University when World War II started. She then took a job in Washington, D.C., in the State Department. She came to Oklahoma after the war to visit friends and loved Tulsa so much she decided to stay here and work. She met her future husband, John D. Polk, and they were married in 1948. They started Polk Appliance Co. in 1955. Nancy retired in 2006 and turned the business over to her son, John D. Polk II. <br>
Nancy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Antonio and Maria; sister, Josephine; sister, Catherine and brothers, Joe and Frank. <br>
She is survived by brother, Sam Mormino; a sister, Ann Fleury; and son, John II. <br>
She enjoyed having family parties at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved cooking, painting and most of all meeting and becoming friends with the customers of Polk Appliance Co. <br>
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Catholic Charities. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, July 27, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Okla. Condolences may be submitted online at www.floralhaven.com .

         <title>Clayton W. Dickinson, 77</title>
         <description><![CDATA[Clayton W. Dickinson, 77, of Carlton Road, passed away on July 21, 2010, at his home.<br>
 Born on Dec. 7, 1932, in the town of Northumberland, Saratoga County, he was the son of the late Albert and Amelia (Bahr) Dickinson.<br>
 Clayton was a student of Fort Edward High School but received his G.E.D. in the U. S. Army at Camp North-Star in Korea.  He served in the Korean War from December 1952 through November 1954 in the 25th Division, PFC Infantry, U.S.A.R.  <br>
 He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1491 for 22 years and a member of the American Legion, Post 83 for 23 years.<br>
 He worked for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., now known as National Grid, for 40 years, retiring in 1992.  He was a member of the IBEW and the Niagara Mohawk 25-year Club.  He gave 35 years of service to the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company with great pride.  He also gave 20 years of service to the Skenesborough Rescue Squad.
 Besides his parents, he is predeceased by one brother, Robert L. Dickinson, and a sister-in-law, Jean Dickinson, as well as his first wife, Mary (Liberty) Tatsey.<br>
 Clayton is survived by his wife of 22 years, Gail (Austin) Dickinson of Whitehall; three sons, Clayton W. Dickinson Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of San Bernadino, Calif., Eric Dickinson and his wife, Lisa, of Lake Wales, Fla., and Matthew B. Dickinson and his wife, Jennifer, of Whitehall; one daughter, Danielle Dickinson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one stepson, James J. Cassidy of Greenville, Tenn.; four stepdaughters, Karen Cassidy and her companion, Tony Huntington, of Whitehall; Kim (McMillian) Stevens and her husband, Roy, of North Pole, Alaska, Deena (McMillian) Murphy of Castleton, N.Y., and Alana (McMillian) Bethel of North Carolina; one brother, Edgar Dickinson and his wife, JoAnn, of Guilderland; a sister-in-law, Sandy (Woodcock) Dickinson of Gansevoort; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.<br>
 A funeral service was conducted Monday, July 26, at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, with the Rev. Roberta Proper officiating.<br>
 Interment, with full military honors, followed at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall.<br>
 Calling hours were held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 25.<br>

         <title>Mark R. Currier, 49</title>
         <description><![CDATA[Mark R. Currier, 49, passed away suddenly on July 4, 2010, at the Glens Falls Hospital.<br>
Born on Aug. 24, 1960, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Richard Currier and the late Marlene (Krott) Currier.
Mark enjoyed his family, playing softball, camping, coaching his children, riding his motorcycle and the Dallas Cowboys.  He was very proud of his German heritage and cherished being called “OPA” by his granddaughter, Lily Sunshine.  (Familie Fur Immer).<br>
Besides his mother, he is predeceased by his two uncles, Hubert Krott and Frances Currier; and his grandmother, Margaret Rogers.<br>
Mark is survived by his two daughters, Tarah Currier of Brunswick, Ga., and Jennifer Lavin and her husband, Zachary, and his granddaughter, Lily Lavin, all of Whitehall; his father, Richard Currier and his wife, Virginia, of Whitehall; two brothers, Clint Currier and his wife, Beth, of Queensbury and John Currier of Cortland; his nieces and nephews, Jason Currier and his wife, Amalia, and children, Ashton and Adriana of South Glens Falls, Sarah Currier of Queensbury, Julie Currier of Cortland, Patrick Carver, Hayley Carver, Amelia Lane and Spencer Lane; and one aunt, Anita Tanner.<br>
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, July 8, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall with the Rev. Michael Flannery officiating. A rite of committal followed at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall. Pall bearers were Mike Donaldson, Jason Currier, Zack Lavin, Mike Rovelli, Mark Sylvia, Jim Nassivera, Morris Holcomb and Art Liacona.<br>
Following the committal, family and friends were invited to a time of fellowship and refreshments at the B.P.O.E., Lodge 1491 of Whitehall.<br>
 Calling hours were held Wednesday, July 7, at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall.<br>

         <title>Douglas G. Rocque, 78</title>
         <description><![CDATA[Douglas G. Rocque of 2 Potter St., Whitehall, died peacefully at his home after a lengthy illness on July 1, 2010.<br>
 He was born May 15, 1932, in Whitehall, the son of the late Leo and Rosalie (Plude) Rocque.<br>
 Mr. Rocque was a graduate of Whitehall High School, class of 1949, and then spent a brief time in the Catholic Seminary at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He is a U.S. military veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and spent a year in the Philippine Islands. <br>
 After separating from service, he returned to New York and married the former Carol Nixon of Niagara Falls on June 15, 1957. He then worked full time for Meritt, Chapman & Scott during the construction of the Niagara Power Project while going to college with a full-time schedule and caring for his growing family. He graduated from Niagara University in 1960 and went to work for the U.S. Social Security Administration in Jamestown for three years. Mr. Rocque returned to his hometown in 1963 and continued with the Social Security Administration for four more years, working out of the Glens Falls office. He then went to work for General Electric Co., eventually heading up the employee relations department and simultaneously working in union negotiations until his disability retirement in 1987. Additionally, he and his wife owned and operated the local Tastee Freez business for 15 years.<br>
Mr. Rocque then continued serving his community in elected positions, first as a member of the Whitehall Village Board, a member of the Whitehall Town Board and ultimately several terms as the Whitehall town supervisor and as a member of the Washington County Board of Supervisors, serving a term as vice-chairman.<br>
During his time in Whitehall, Mr. Rocque was active in the Elks where he was a two time PER, District Deputy and NYS VP. He was also a member of the Jaycees, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the VFW, the Eagles and the local Chamber of Commerce. He also served several years on the Whitehall Board of Education, serving a term as its president. In earlier years Mr. Rocque was an assistant scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, a founding member of the Whitehall Emergency Squad and a member of his Parish Council at Notre Dame Catholic Church. He also participated for 25 years in the Junior Miss Program, serving as master of ceremonies for most of that time. <br>
Some of his fondest memories are the two trips to Europe with his wife and a great trip to Hawaii.<br>
In addition to his wife, Carol, of 53 years, he is survived by his eight children, Michael and wife Danna of Clifton Park, Michele Sellers and husband Charles of Southern Pines, N.C., Mark and his companion, Angel Scuderi, of Ticonderoga, Matthew and his fiancée, Rebecca McKee, of Whitehall, Martin and his companion, Tammy Stevens, of Whitehall, Marcia Rocque-Coso of Whitehall, Marshall and his wife, Tara, of Ticonderoga and Megan Frandino and husband William of Kingston; his brother Gerard and wife Donna of Ferdonia; and his brother-in-law, Russell Nixon and wife Christine of Niagara Falls. He is also survived by beloved 17 grandchildren and three acquired grandchildren, Kyle, Jennifer and Jacqueline Rocque; Dylan Sellers; Blaire Rocque-Tilley (husband, Corey), Brooke and Emily Rocque; Cole and Kendra Rocque; Dyllan Winters; Madisen and Hunter Coso; Brody and Chloe Rocque; Gaetano, Esabella, and Rocco Frandino; also Hayden Scuderi, Brielle Gregario, and Garrett Stevens; one great-grandchild, Zuri Joyce Rocque; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and his former daughters-in-law, Cathy, Regina and Joyce.<br>
 A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, July 6, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall, with the Rev. Michael Flannery, pastor, officiating.  <br>
 A committal service was conducted following the Mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 83 of Whitehall.<br>
 Calling hours were held Monday at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, where the B. P. O. E., Lodge 1491 conducted a Lodge of Sorrow and American Legion, Post 83 of Whitehall conducted a wake service. Following the committal, family and friends gathered for a time of fellowship and refreshments at the B. P. O. E, Lodge 1491.<br>
 The family would like to extend a special thank you to all his good friends and neighbors who kept him in their thoughts and prayers over the years and who sent hundreds of get well cards and were there constantly to help the family whenever needed.<br>
 Additionally, the family would like to thank the Castleton Medical Center and its staff for the many years of care that they afforded Doug and his family. Lastly, special thank you to our local nurses from RRMC for all their comfort, care, help and suggestions they gave to Doug and his family the last few months of his life.<br>
 The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please extend an expression of sympathy in the form of a donation in his memory to Our Lady of Hope Church, 9 Wheeler Ave., Whitehall, N.Y. 12887 or contributions to the local Food Pantry or a charity of one's choice.

         <title>Jennie A. Blasko, 80</title>
         <description>Jennie A. Blasko, 80, formerly of Whitehall, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the home of her daughter, Linda M. Blasko-Steves of South Glens Falls, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 11, 1929, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Leonardo and Francesco (Di Coro) Marinello.
She was united in marriage to Frank Blasko, who passed away on Feb. 19, 1992.  
For the past three years she was a resident of the Adirondack Tri-County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in North Creek and was well known as the mail lady at the facility.  She left the facility in April of 2010 to be closer to her family.
Jennie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitehall and the Ladies Aid Society of the church.  
She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, knitting, sewing, watching old movies on television and cooking, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, Frank Blasko, she is predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Frank, and four sisters, Gussie, Carmela, Rosemary and Antoinette.
Survivors include her three children, Charles L. Guatta and his wife, Bonnie, of Fort Edward, Michael J. Blasko and his fiancé, Jo-Ann Steves, of Glens Falls and Linda M. Blasko-Steves and her significant partner, Melissa Sweet, of South Glens Falls, 12 grandchildren, Jaime Sefcik, Jodi Bruno, Jonathan Guatta, Tyler Blasko, Tara Blasko, Sara Steves, Jill Steves, Stacy Lavin, Amanda Tracy, Josh Sweet, Hal Friday and Stephanie Derway; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Sunday, June 27, at the Michael G. Angiolillo Funeral Home, 210 Broadway, Whitehall. Calling hours were held Sunday at the funeral home. 
Graveside services were held on Monday, June 28, at Greenmount Cemetery, Whitehall.
The family requests that memorial contributions in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to either the American Heart Association, Capital Region, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, N.Y., 12205 or the Community Hospice of Saratoga County, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, N.Y.  12866.

         <title>Anna L. Martin DuBeau, 94</title>
         <description>Anna L. Martin DuBeau, 94, of East Montcalm Avenue, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Indian River Rehabilitation Center in Granville following a brief illness.
 Born on March 25, 1916, in Poultney, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Steve and Laura (Lopez) Luse.
 In her early years, she worked at the Champlain Silk Mill and also was a seamstress at the Whitehall Coat Factory.
 She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by husbands, Thomas Martin Sr. and Albert DuBeau, one son, Thomas Martin Jr., one grandson, Michael S. Gordon, and several brothers and sisters.
 She is survived by three daughters, Rose Gordon and her husband, Les, of Whitehall,  Laura Vittum and her husband, Paul, of Winter Garden, Fla., and Lynda Melen and her husband, Jon, of Shrewsbury, Vt.; one daughter-in-law, Lynn (Martin) McKee of Whitehall;  two sisters, Jane Eddy of Rutland, Vt., and Carmel Moffitt and her husband, Guy, of Saratoga; one brother, George (Peter) Luse and his wife, Shirley, of Warrensburg; 12 grandchildren, Bernard Gordon and his wife, Helen, Leslie Gordon and his wife, Cassenda, Gary Gordon and his wife, Kerrie, Patty Linehan, Thomas Martin and his wife, Denise, Sheila Durrum and her husband Theron, Robin Manell and her husband, Richard, Laura Aronson and her husband, Jack, Jerry Martin and his companion, Deborah Currier, Julie VanGuilder and her husband, William, Jon Melen and his wife, Dawn, and Jodie Manning and her husband, Ted; several great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
 A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, June 19, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall with the Rev. Michael Flannery, pastor, officiating.
 Interment followed at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall. Following interment, there was a time of fellowship and refreshments at Our Lady of Hope Church Hall.
 Calling hours were held at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, on Friday, June 18.

         <title>Charles E. Foster, 56</title>
         <description>Charles E. Foster, 56, passed away from cancer at his home on June 20, 2010, surrounded by his loving and supportive family.
Born on Jan. 13, 1954, in Clemons, he was the son of the late Henry Foster and Frances (Young) Foster.
Chuck was a contractor in the area for many years.  He enjoyed boating on the lake, driving fast, loud rock ‘n’ roll, good food and wine and good times with his family and friends.  Most of all, vacations with his wife and boys.  Chuck and Jenni have been partners for 29 years.
Besides his father, he is predeceased by his sister, Barbara Foster.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Hallock Foster, his sons, Steven, 11, and Samuel, 8, his mother, Frances Foster, his brother, Michael Foster, all of Clemons; his sisters, Kathleen Kilduff and her husband, Kevin, of Homosassa, Fla., Joanne Farley and her husband, Scott, of Clemons and Patricia Connors of Malone; as well as many nieces and nephews.
 Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, on Thursday, June 24, from 4 to 7 p.m.
 A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, June 25, at 1 p.m. at Mountain Grove Memorial Church in Huletts Landing.

         <title>Bernard R. Brown, 83</title>
         <description>Bernard R. Brown, 83, formerly of Holcombville Road, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle following a long illness.
Born on May 16, 1927, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Robert and Nellie (Ames) Brown.
At one time, he was appointed as the superintendent of the one-room school house in Holcombville. His first job after naval service during World War II was at the iron mines in Mineville. He also worked for Imperial Wallpaper and Colorant, which later became Hercules Color and Plastics, and retired from Ciba Giegy, then continued working as an independent roofer and handyman.
He was a 52-year continuous member of the American Legion, Post 83 of Whitehall, serving as post commander, vice commander and adjutant sergeant at arms.  In 2005, the Legion remodeled the third floor of its building and dedicated that room to Bernard at the dedication dinner where the Boy Scouts hold their meetings.
He was very active in his early years with the Boy Scouts. He was a Boy Scout assistant scoutmaster, merit badge counselor, treasurer and troop liaison.
  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Whitehall where he served as a past elder, treasurer and sexton and also was a Sunday school teacher.  At one time, he also served as a Little League coach.
 Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Alice (Hurlburt) Brown, who died in 1997; his twin boys, Peter Brown and Paul Brown; one brother, Henry Brown; four sisters, Nettie Smith, Dorothy Bennett, Pauline Gosselin and Helen Twyman.
He is survived by four sons, Bernard A. Brown and his wife, Marylou, of Auburn, Charles Brown and his wife, Charlotte, of Middle Granville, Robert J. Brown of Whitehall and Jeffrey Brown and his wife, Mengie, of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Jane Brown of Whitehall; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
 Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, on Friday, June 25, from 6 to 9 p.m.  The American Legion, Post 83 will conduct a wake service at 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 26, at 3 p.m. at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc. Interment will follow at North Granville Cemetery.

         <title>Edward F. Lipka, 88</title>
         <description>Edward F. Lipka, 88, formerly of Champlain Avenue, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Indian River Rehabilitation Center in Granville following a long illness.
 Born on March 26, 1922, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Anton and Mary (Chuckta) Lipka.
He attended the Brick Church School in Whitehall. 
Edward was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, enlisting on Nov. 20, 1942, and was honorably discharged on Dec. 9, 1945.  He was a veteran of Timberwolf Division 104, being stationed in northern France, Rhineland and central Europe.  He received the American Theater Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.  He was also a longtime member of the American Legion, Post 83 of Whitehall.
 Edward retired from General Electric Co. in Hudson Falls.
 He married Eleanor Levett on Nov. 2, 1947, in the First Presbyterian Church in Whitehall.  She passed away on Dec. 19, 2001.
 Besides his wife and parents, he is predeceased by three brothers, Steve Lipka, Chet Lipka, and Joe Lipka, and one sister, Stella Lipka
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Bessette and her husband, Terry, of Whitehall; one son, Frank Lipka and his wife, Barbara, of Whitehall; one sister, Helen Galloway of Granville; one brother-in-law, Lyman Levett of Coxsackie; one sister-in-law, Clara Lipka of Whitehall; two grandchildren, Justin Bessette and his companion, Keegan Brazzale, and Bradley Besssette; and several nieces and nephews.
 There will be no calling hours.
 Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, June 22, at Greenmount Cemetery with full military honors, conducted by the American Legion Post 83 of Whitehall.
  The family would like to say a special thank you to all of the caring nurses, aides, patients and all staff members especially A-Wing at Indian River Nursing Home for all the care, compassion and friendship they showed him through the years.

         <title>Olga M. Jaworski, 87,</title>
         <description>Olga M. Jaworski, 87, of Whitehall, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010, at the Indian River Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Granville following a brief illness.
Olga was born on July 21, 1922, in New York, the daughter of Joseph and Tekla “Tessie” (Reinick) Walewicz.
She attended school in New York and attended a business college in New York.  She and her family resided in South Farmingdale, Long Island.  She was employed as an assistant patient account manager for Roosevelt Hospital in New York City for more than 20 years.  She also served as a volunteer at the Roosevelt Hospital for many years. There she worked with special needs babies. 
In 1972, she and her family moved to Rutland, Vt., and purchased the Green Mount Hotel in Rutland.  After her husband’s illness, they sold the business and moved to Whitehall and opened an antique business.  They enjoyed traveling to many auctions and sales, purchasing antiques for their business.  Following Edward’s death in 1980, she continued to operate the family business until her retirement.  Olga also cared for her parents at home until their death. She was a wonderful example of compassion, responsibility and love.
Olga was known to be a humanitarian toward animals and people in Whitehall. She taught Catechism at the church for many years, known to her students as “Mrs. J”. She was a very devout Catholic. She loved the Lord and served Him with all her heart and soul. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Whitehall and the Woman’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 83 of Whitehall.  
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Edward L. Jaworski, and her brother, Nicholas Walewicz.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane Raymer of Grapevine, Texas; her six grandchildren, Christopher Cioffi of Provo, Utah, Danielle Cioffi, Nicole Cioffi, Pamela Cioffi, Rebecca Cioffi and Timothy Cioffi, all of Texas.  She is also survived by two very special friends, Mary Fenton and Patricia Norton, both of Whitehall.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 11, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Skene Street, Whitehall, with the Rev. Michael Flannery, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow the Mass in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at the church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her name to the local Humane Society or ASPCA. 
God bless and thank-you to all who helped and cared for my mother in her time of need and during her brief stay at the Indian River Nursing Home. She is greatly missed.
