know anybody

Keep your eyes and ears open
Just got this email; sounds like a nice thing to do...
Hi All,
I am looking for a "student" grade saxophone for a 11 year old boy in the FT ANN school district. He has played one a little and would like to learn sax. This is something his family could never afford.  He and his 6 year old sister and little 4 year old younger brother were all adopted into this one family.
I am hoping someone may know of a sax in a closet somewhere, since many kids played them in school and then they may have gotten put away.  Even if it's in need of repair that's fine,  I know a guy who fixes them.  Please keep your eyes and ears open to help this little guy!

Thank you

UFOs

UFO stuff

Unidentified - no one knows what it was

Flying  - well, certainly up in the air

Object

Reports continue to trickle in about something in the sky around Granville a few weeks ago. Whatever it was, and I really haven't had any frothing-at-the-mouth kooks come out, several people report seeing a remarkably similar thing. These folks mostly do not know each other and have approached me in an off-the-record sort of way.

The reports, not all from the same people of the same circle of friends, are interesting in that they are quite similar describing the object and its location.

Pretty cool.

No one has said 'little green men' and most people reporting the object stress that they don't know what it was and how it did not behave like a typicall aircraft of any kind.

No engine noise or contrail, just kind of hanging in the air. Any paraglider pilots in the area?

I have two reports of a different type of objet, reported to have been lit up yellow and red appearing after dark as the light went out of the sky. Also seen from a different place in the town.

I'm thinking weather phenomenon; cold reflecting the setting sun? But it was seen by one witness more than once. That would be a pretty tenacious cloud.

Any and all reports of something like that are welcome. AND, don't forget your cameras. A bad picture of a UFO is better than none at all.

And remember, keep watching the stars (as the movie line goes).

I love a parade

Veterans Day Parade

Good turnout at the parade today. A few new wrinkles, with a Civil War-era rider with a flag and the Adirondack Cowgirls, not sure if they made the last Vets Day march.

Cold weather had the spectators budled up, but the numbers were pretty good considering it is a work day for a lot of people. Crowds got heavier as the marcher approached the park, I guess people have figured out there is much less walking involve if you just camp out at the end of the parade. Still, good to see so many people out on a day when it would have been easy to stay inside.

In a few remarks made at the end of the ceremony in the park Legion Commander Jerry Austin ackowledged the historic nature of the last election, adding that what makes our country unique is that a historic election was not accompanied by riots or bloodshed - a nice moment.

There will be lots of pictures on the website, so if you marched, take a look.

congrats to them, hard work paying off. Many of these guys will just swap uniforms before dioing something over the winter. So I have to confess to looking forward to winter sports - a little. Lots of night games seems to make getting there even harder. But always good dramatic stuff.

I expect to have field hockey All Star news soon as well. look for it here.
